Jerzy Stuhr
Born 18th April 1947 in Krakow. Graduate from Polish Philology at the Jagiellonian University and from The Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Cracow. Since 1971, acts in Teatr Stary. Co-worked with Konrad Swinarski, Jerzy Jarocki, Jerzy Grzegorzewski and Andrzej Wajda. Actor in the films Directed by Agnieszka Holland, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Zanussi, Feliks Falk and Juliusz Machulski. Since 1980s, plays Italian films and theatrical plays. Theatre and film director, pedagogue. Between 1990-1997, the Rector of The Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Cracow. Winner of numerous awards for his acting performance and theatre directing, i.a. the Nastro d’Argento award of the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists for the best European artist (1998), the Emerging Master Award at the Seattle International Film Festival (2001) and Polish Super Wiktor award (2001). Since 1998, a member of the European Film Academy. In 1992, Stuhr published his autobiography “Sercowa choroba, czyli moje życie w sztuce” (“The Disease of the Heart: My Life in Art”).
