Saturday, 22nd September 2018, 43rd Polish Film Festival
The last day of the 43rd Polish Film Festival in Gdynia means of course the most important question: who will get the Golden Lions?

Awaiting the verdict, we can still watch all the films from the Main Competition. On the New Stage of the Musical Theatre, in screening rooms of Gdynia Film Centre and Multikino, the following films will be screened: “7 Emotions” by Marek Koterski, “Autsajder” by Adam Sikora, “A Hole in the Head” by Piotr Subbotko, “Ether” by Krzysztof Zanussi, “Fugue” by Agnieszka Smoczyńska, “A Cat with a Dog” by Janusz Kondratiuk, “Julius” by Aleksander Pietrzak, “The Butler” by Filip Bajon, “Clergy” by Wojciech Smarzowski, “The Mute” by Bartosz Konopka, “Once Upon a Time in November” by Andrzej Jakimowski, “Mug” by Małgorzata Szumowska, “Pardon” by Jan Jakub Kolski, “Werewolf” by Adrian Panek, “Playing Hard” by Kinga Dębska, “Cold War” by Paweł Pawlikowski.

The Saturday program of Konsulat Kultury includes a half of films from the Visions Apart Competition: “Another Day of Life” by Damian Nenow and Raul de la Fuente, “Monument” by Jagoda Szelc, “Leave Me Not” by Grzegorz Lewandowski and “Windows, Windows” by Wojciech Solarz.

A Special Screening In Memoriam on Saturday at 11.30 AM in Goplana screening room of the Gdynia Film Centre is „Samson” directed by Andrzej Wajda. In this way we will commemorate two actors who passed away almost a year ago, Alina Janowska and Władysław Kowalski.

Polish Filmmakers Association Forum will begin at midday in Mercure Gdynia Centrum Hotel. The motto of this year’s meeting is “Focus on the Right”. We will tackle the Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights Act, a project of Financial Support for Audiovisual Production Act and a European copyright law reform.

Saturday can be a perfect day to have a look at the exhibitions of the Festival.

The Red Carpet, the official ceremony awaited by the Festival guests and the inhabitants of the Tri-City, will begin at 5.15 PM.

The Closing Gala of the 43rd Polish Film Festival will begin on the Large Stage of the Musical Theatre at 7.00 PM. We will get to know the winners of the Golden and Silver Lions, individual awards in the Main Competition and the Golden Claw in the Visions Apart Competition. The Platinum Lions for the entirety of work will be given to Jerzy Skolimowski. The Closing Gala is invitation-only. It will be broadcast also in television, TVP Kultura, from 7.30 PM. A retransmission has also been planned for midnight in TVP2.

At Grunwaldzki Square, at 8.00 PM, the last outdoor screening of this year’s Festival will begin. The last one but unusual because encompassing as many as three hours-long block of short films. We will see “Kino Młodych”, selected famous short films of the last years: “Nothing New Under the Sun” directed by Damian Kocur, “The Best Fireworks Ever” by Aleksandra Terpińska. Also, selected short films appreciated at festivals in Poland and abroad, produced by the Gdynia Film School, will be presented: “Grandma’s Day” (2015) by Miłosz Sakowski, “Time To Go” by Grzegorz Mołda and “Pola” by Edyta Rembała. The Wajda School will present two documentaries: Oscar-nominee “Joanna” by Aneta Kopacz and “Superjednostka” by Teresa Czepiec. The co-organizer of the outdoor screenings of the 43rd PFF is Telewizja Kino Polska. Entry to outdoor screenings is free of charge.

We invite you to take part in the Internet Study on the Festival Audience. The on-line questionnaire can be filled in at any moment of the 43rd Polish Film Festival or after its end (the survey will be active until 9th October).

We will be grateful for sparing a few minutes for sharing your views on this year’s Festival. Your participation is very important to us and it will let us improve the design of the Festival when it comes to its next edition.
