“When I was starting my work for the Festival over two years ago, strenghtening the Young Cinema Competition was one of my priorities, therefore I moved the competition screenings to the main Festival location: the Musical Theatre. Later, the time had come to form a separate Short Film Competition, as well as to grant a special discount accreditation for the students of film schools,” says the Artistic Director of the Gdynia Film Festival, Michał Oleszczyk. “I have the impression that during my term, the Festival has become more friendly and open to the students of artistic schools and authors of short film forms. Every year, together with the competition coordinator, Maciej Dominiak, we face the difficult task of selection: we watch everything and discuss it for a long time. However, I  have the impression that as a result of our work, the festival audience will receive two really strong and interesting short film competitions.”
